there is a digital card option, which may be of use to users with lower quality A/D converters. the latency free monitoring is also quite useful though again, only if latency is already an issue in your system.

v good value and some of the focusrite packages almost make it rude not to buy one.
Sound:
though i try not to add any processing at tracking stage, the VMPro gives you the flexibility to do just that with a fantastically transparent pre, or to mangle the sound as much as you like. the highlight for me is the de-esser which is so easy to use and sounds very effective and again transparent. the only downside is the expander which does seem to artefact the sound somewhat and so i would be loathed to use at tracking, but might be worth looking at for mixdown when it could be good for clearing up headphone spill or rogue click tracks. fantastic product.
Overall:
your expectations of equipment always change as you get more experienced and you get better at what you do, so i've no doubt that eventually i will demand more of this class of device, but for the moment i'm delighted.
